What Caused Spike In Ecto Price: 9.5k ---> 15k - Page 2 - Guild Wars Forums

My theory is this:

Prices went down at start of event (yes they did).
Therefore more people bought ectos from the trader because real players didnt want to sell their own ectos so low.
Therefore the trader had less stock, so his price went up.
Atm, from what ive heard from guildies, is that not many people are buying because they are overpriced, so the ecto price is stable in the upper level now.

Just my theory, although the one about koreans/japanese not having favour and buying out trader stock sounds valid as well.

Hey, erm..when did they spike to 15k? :S just looked at trader and there still 9.5k

It actually doesnt make much sense at all. The issue here isnt why have they gone up over time. Its just for this weekend.

The obvious answer is because the asian/austriallian/etc. are getting all of their FoW armor.

Plus.. why would the people who buy gold all at once buy all of their ectos and shards today..only?

Um, no. I know alot of people who dont have time to spam WTB: Shards for hours on end as noone is selling in bulk. It is alot of hastle and if you can afford FOW armour chances are spending a few k more doesnt really make a difference. I have bought several hundred ecto at the trader throughout playing Guild Wars for a number of reasons. Sometimes people have not been selling in bulk, other times the price of ectos from players is only like 500 gold less than trader and buying from trader again ensures less hastle. If you are in a rush and people are not selling in bulk then buying from trader is the only option. I havnt had the need to buy ecto for months now so its doesnt really affect me now.

I bought nearly all ectos and shards for my first character's(ranger) FoW from the trader long back, since I was out of patience. Pretty sure lots of people do the same.

So the Asians buying their FoW armor, causing the spike is a pretty decent theory.

When I first started farm the UW a while ago I got 2 ecto on my first run 1 on my secind and then none for my next 10, now Ive just started again and I got 2 on my first 1 on my second and not one since

Thats not really to do with the question, the asian FoW theory sounds good.

Yesterday I saw the prices for Ecto at 9.5k. Please don't tell me they jumped up to 15k because I sold a bunch of Ecto yesterday that I got from my GREAT Ecto-rich weekend.
